In July 2023, we received a gratifying repeat request regarding artist escort and VIP protection. Last year, a well-known German organizer of European K-POP concerts asked us to provide VIP escort protection for a tour of several days in Germany.
K-POP conquers the European music scene
K-POP, short for “Korean Pop”, is a music genre and global cultural movement that originated in South Korea. It is characterized by catchy melodies, exciting choreography and aesthetically pleasing music videos. In recent years, K-Pop has conquered the international music scene and concerts and tours in various countries are regularly sold out.
We provided two experienced bodyguards to ensure the 24-hour security of the artist group and their crew. A challenging task that included protection not only during the “normal” tour life of the stars, but also during their performances in various locations.
Challenges for VIP protection of the band and their crew
Coordinating with venues, hotels, transportation companies and gathering information quickly is an essential part of our job.
There are many questions that need to be answered before each performance:
- What is the quickest route from the hotel to the venue?
- If Plan A doesn’t work, what’s Plan B or C?
- How do the artists get to the location as discreetly as possible?
- Who is the local contact person? Who is responsible for security at the location?
- What does the location look like from the inside? Where is the artists’ area?
- Where are important locations such as restrooms, catering, or smoking areas?
- Where is the nearest emergency exit? Can an evacuation vehicle park there?
- What is the designated place to go after an evacuation?
- Where are the first-aid kits? Where is the nearest hospital?
This list is not exhaustive, but it illustrates how much information is critical for bodyguards to have before the artists arrive. Once the artists are on site, it becomes difficult to gather more information and protect them at the same time. Everything happens in the background and works because of good coordination, accurate planning, and good training and experience of the bodyguards.
Successful cooperation and expansion in Europe
Thanks to our professional approach and successful cooperation, we have already received very positive feedback in 2022. Therefore, this year we received the follow-up order for another tour.
Personal protection and VIP escort are very confidential and closely assigned tasks. The organizer decided to use only one protection team for the whole 2023 tour. This idea was born during the joint debriefing with the organizer in the previous year, when the band also toured Europe and the security staff was changed in each country. In 2023, we accompanied the artists not only in Germany, but also in Paris and Florence. The existing trust between the artists, the crew and our bodyguards could be maintained across borders for the entire tour.
Looking ahead to the future
After successful concerts in Germany, Italy and France, the tour is over for 2023. Our VIP protection has once again given us a deep insight into the still young and developing K-POP scene and we are looking forward to possible follow-up assignments in the fascinating world of these young musicians and artists.
